Monthly Archive: December ROMk
By Justin Jennings, Associate Curator, Department of World Culture.
It’s that time of year! ROM for the Holidays is finally here, and we’ve been hard at work in the Keenan Family Gallery of Hands-on Biodiversity (HOB for short) getting some new hands-on activities ready to go.
First up is the brand-new, never-before-seen touch table that we put together in honour of our lost baby bison.
Today is the last day of the LEGO Sphinx build at the ROM. There has been a lot of progress and it’s been great to have seen so many of you out to see the Sphinx near completion, and to join in on the other LEGO activities on this weekend.
Day 3, 10am - The LEGO Sphinx is almost done
Robin Sather, LEGO® Certified Professional at Brickville DesignWorks in Abbotsford, British Columbia talks with us about his upcoming build of a giant LEGO® Sphinx at the ROM on October 28-30.
Imagine you were a Pipistrelle Bat living in the ROM’s bat cave and one night, when all the lights went out, you snuck out of the cave to explore the wonderful galleries of the Museum. What would you want to see? Where would you go first?
Need a little help boosting your imagination? Check out the ROM’s very first children’s book – Burton and Isabelle Pipistrelle: Out of the Bat Cave.
Rob Mason, is an archaeological scientist whose research interests include art, technology, trade, and industry from the beginnings of time to the industrial revolution. But you may recognize him as a dancing knight from our Medieval Dancing presentations!
Don’t miss the ROM’s Medieval Fall Fair this weekend, October 1 – 2.
The golden days of summer just wouldn’t be the same without water – going to the pool, eating popsicles, making a slip’n’slide across the back yard with a sprinkler and a plastic tarp – but have you ever used water to make MUSIC?
We are currently experiencing intermittent issues with our voicemail system. We thank you for your patience. If you are trying to leave a voicemail, please email your question to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
