Monthly Archive: December Sara
By Bella McWatch, Kiowa Wind Memorial (KWM) Indigenous Youth Intern
In June, the entire country will be filled with festivities to commemorate National Aboriginal History Month. The ROM Learning Department is taking this opportunity to continue its ongoing reconciliation efforts through participation by offering Indigenous special events for school groups throughout the month.
Earth Weekend is coming fast, and we couldn’t be more excited! The interactive workshop with Barbara Reid will be amazing, but the Hands-on team from the Keenan Family Gallery of Hands-on Biodiversity is also preparing many more fun and interactive events for the second floor.
The CWF Get to Know Contest
Of all the wonders of nature, a tree in summer is perhaps the most remarkable; with the possible exception of a moose singing “Embraceable You” in spats.

Here for ROM for the Holidays, it’s the long-awaited return of the Earth Rangers Studio Winter Wonderland in Life in Crisis: the Schad Gallery of Biodiversity!
It’s that time of year! ROM for the Holidays is finally here, and we’ve been hard at work in the Keenan Family Gallery of Hands-on Biodiversity (HOB for short) getting some new hands-on activities ready to go.
First up is the brand-new, never-before-seen touch table that we put together in honour of our lost baby bison.
I love sharing the cool secrets of the ROM with visitors, so it really made my day when our Name the Queen Bee Contest winner Kaitlyn visited the ROM with her mom and her brother Kynan (who also happened to be our third place winner). I got to show them around the Keenan Family Gallery of Hands-on Biodiversity and Life in Crisis: Schad Gallery of Biodiversity, as well as introduce them to a few special friends of mine who live behind-the-scenes at the ROM.
