Celebrating ROM Supporters

2018 Chairs' Reception

The ROM warmly welcomed close to 400 guests for its Chairs’ Reception on May 9, 2018. This annual event celebrates the ROM family of supporters and volunteers whose generosity enables world-class exhibitions, curatorial research and public programs for the community.

Attendees enjoyed a private viewing of Sigmund Samuel Gallery of Canada and the Daphne Cockwell Gallery dedicated to First Peoples art & culture—which opened free-of-charge to the public, as of April 18, 2018.

The ROM proudly recognized Raymond James Ltd. and TD Bank Group with the Distinguished Corporation Award. The Lieutenant Governor’s Distinguished Service Award was presented to Jean Read, a consummate ROM volunteer and supporter for 25 years, and a champion of the Museum’s future through her leadership of the Currelly Legacy Society.

The Donor of Merit Award—reserved for individuals, companies or foundations who have given $1 million or more in the past year—was proudly presented to Richard M. Ivey, Elinor Gill Ratcliffe, and Nita and Don Reed.

A generous donation from Elinor Ratcliffe will support the future Dawn of Life Gallery. Nita and Don Reed are lead donors to the ROM’s Welcome Project, with the creation of the Reed Family Plaza.

The ROM family also celebrated the establishment of the Richard M. Ivey Curator of Invertebrate Palaeontology, which will be held by the ROM’s Dr. Jean-Bernard Caron, Senior Curator of Invertebrate Palaeontology. Made possible by a leadership gift from Richard M. Ivey, this new position also received matching funds by the Louise Hawley Stone Charitable Trust.
