About

A tiny diorama, created by artists Jennifer and Kevin McCoy, presents an unsettling suburban scene for visitors to explore. Conceived as a miniature film set inspired by David Lynch's Blue Velvet (1986), one of Toronto International Film Festival's (TIFF) Essential 100 Films, live cameras suspended over the diorama capture a continually looping sequence. The live video is simultaneously displayed as an edited film on a nearby screen and complemented by Billie Holiday's haunting "On the Sentimental Side."

Jennifer and Kevin McCoy explore new technology, the mass media and global commerce as it relates to personal experiences through this disconcerting montage. The sets themselves are an exploded spatial view of what one experiences temporally in film.
