Enjoy a weekend of exotic performances and displays showcasing a variety of dance forms, instrumental performances, traditional crafts, workshops, documentary films plus interactive games and activities for kids. Last but not least, the delicious South Asian menu at Druxy's ROM Café!

    Get close to items from our teaching collections with a touch table of South Asian artifacts. Enjoy a hands-on experience and hear the stories from our ROM Teacher that will make history come to life!

The rich history of South Asia will be brought to life!

The ROM’s gallery is the only one of its kind in the western world to showcase both historical artifacts and contemporary art in a shared space, to celebrate the dynamic and diverse cultures of South Asia. With 350 of the best or most intriguing objects, out of an evolving collection of over 7,000 artifacts!

Join Dr. Salman Ahmad,  President of SADEQUAIN Foundation in San Diego, for a special presentation on Pakistan's greatest artist, Sadequain.

The SADEQUAIN Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to discover, preserve and promote the art of Sadequain.

    Don't miss the opportunity to see illumination artist Unaiza Karim create designs that are used to decorate manuscripts. Try to make your own traditional geometric and floral patterns.

    Visit our Henna artists to have a traditional design placed on your hand!

    Discover the spices of South Asia with this display and interactive quiz along with free giveaway prizes!

  • Woodblock Printing from Pakistan
    Create and take home your own bookmark decorated with traditional wood block prints

  • Turban and Sari Demonstrations & Display
    Learn how to tie a turban and sari. Have your photo taken wearing a variety of styles!

  • Display of Masks and & Costumes
    from Sri Lanka

  • Display of Kites

  • Display of Crafts from India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bhutan

  • Calligraphy Demonstration
    Meet artist Hadi Ali Chaudhry as he demonstrates traditional calligraphy. Take home your name written in ‘Urdu' on a book mark as a sample of the calligraphy style used for book writing in Pakistan.
