Royal Ontario Museum Announces Appointment of Chief Human Resources Officer

TORONTO, August 6, 2020 – Josh Basseches, Director & CEO of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), announced today the appointment of Nadim Kara as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). In this role, Kara will be responsible for the Human Resource functions and related activities.

In this position, Kara will oversee Human Resources’ departmental operations including recruitment, labour/employee relations, health and safety, pensions and benefit programs, performance management, learning and development, employee engagement, and wellness.

Most recently, Kara served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Toronto-based Teranet, which was named Top Employer for the GTA three years in a row during his tenure. He has also held HR leadership roles at the legal research company Lexisnexis, and prior that, at Science North, Sudbury, a position that provided him with considerable museum-related experience.  

Kara will assume the role on August 17, 2020, upon the retirement of Dan Sibley. During his tenure as CHRO, Sibley played a critical role in aligning the ROM’s Human Resources function with the organization’s overall strategic direction and priorities.
