Newsroom

Welcome to the ROM’s Newsroom. This is an area where news media covering the Royal Ontario Museum can find the latest news releases and media kits with general information on the Museum. An image gallery offers a selection of high resolution images that news media can download for their use.

The ROM’s Communications Department can assist journalists looking for information about the Museum, its exhibitions, research activities or ROM programs and special events, and in coordinating interviews or photo/television shoots. Journalists wishing to visit the ROM are encouraged to arrange their visit ahead of time by contacting the Communications Department.

To request access to film or photograph in the Museum, please assist us by filling out a request form.

All filming and photo shoots using tripods or light-stands must be accompanied at all times by a member of the ROM's Communications Department. Published images of the ROM or Museum footage must be accompanied by appropriate credit lines. Location scouting or pre-filming/photography meetings may be required to assess the physical site requirements. Filming or photography shoots may also require us to secure approval by other Museum departments and are generally scheduled on weekdays, during regular business hours.

For more information, please contact the Communications Department.

Requests for photos by non-news media outlets will be directed to the ROM’s Rights and Reproductions Department (i.e. commercial use, academic reports, books, etc.) Requests for new filming or photography not related to publicity of the Museum or its exhibitions will be directed to Hospitality & Commercial Services (i.e. commercials, movies, etc.).
