À propos

The Riverside ROMWalk charts the ups and downs of this fascinating neighbourhood over 200 years. Beginning at River Street and Queen St. East, proceed east over the Don River via the Queen Street Viaduct, and learn about the 19th century “improvements” to the Don waterway and adjacent railway development.

Visit a former factory, a neighbourhood park with several artworks by Indigenous artists. Learn about the changes over time – from Riverside’s rural beginnings to its growth in the 1880s, through depression downturns, and slum clearance in the 1950s – to its recent landscape sporting contemporary condominiums woven in with a renewed appreciation and restoration of its heritage buildings.

Throughout the walk, hear fascinating stories of Riverside’s sports history, meeting halls, marmalade industry, social services past and present, railways, and much more.
