Sharks in Focus: Revealing the Truth Behind the Jaws

Sharks have long captivated the imagination. These diverse and impressive creatures have been around since before trees! In this session with award-winning photojournalist Shane Gross, learn what it's like to swim with sharks and photograph them.  Examine the life history and biology of several species of sharks and find out what makes these animals so special. Discover why sharks are in trouble, what we can do to help, and where you can go to see them.

Shane Gross

Shane Gross is a Canadian conservation photojournalist known for his work in marine life photography and promoting ocean and freshwater conservation. His images highlight the beauty of underwater ecosystems while raising awareness about the threats they face. Shane is an Associate Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP) and a co-founder of the Canadian Conservation Photographers Collective (CCPC). Shane was the 2024 adult Grand Title Winner in the annual international Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.
