Née au Zimbabwe, Tandazani Dhlakama est conservatrice de l'Afrique mondiale au ROM. Elle était auparavant conservatrice au Zeitz MOCAA et a travaillé à la National Gallery of Zimbabwe à Harare. Mme Dhlakama a été co-commissaire de Seekers, Seers, Soothsayers (2023) et When We See Us : A Century of Black Figuration in Painting (2022), tous deux au Zeitz MOCAA. Elle a également été commissaire de l'exposition Witness : Afro Perspectives from the Jorge M. Pérez Collection (2020) à El Espacio 23 à Miami, et Five Bhobh : Painting at the End of an Era (2018) à Zeitz MOCAA.
