Young explorers picking up a camera in Philosopher’s Gallery for the Wild Photo Walk, visitors meeting ROM experts at pop-up specimen tables, kids transforming into their favourite animal with face painting—this March Break takes families on a journey of adventure and discovery through the Museum. From snapping photos of animal scenes and contributing to a rotating community photo display to examining real objects from the collections, ROM’s March break programming brings the Museums research and collections about the natural world into focus.

Throughout March Break (March 14–22), special performances animate the museum. InCirque, a Toronto-based circus and street performance company known for highly interactive entertainment, will dazzle ROM audiences with a brand-new show inspired by animals. International beatboxing champion Scott Jackson blends animal sounds with rhythmic vocal techniques in energetic performances in Chen Court, while roaming Gallivanting Giraffes delight guests as they wander through the galleries. On weekends, beloved drag storytelling duo Fay Slift and Fluffy Soufflé host colourful family storytimes filled with music, puppets, and messages of kindness.

Families can also dive into shark science through hands-on activities in Hands-on Biodiversity and WonderWorks, discover the differences between moths and butterflies in the Earth Rangers Studio. On March 21 and 22, in the same studio, visitors can also explore the science of colour through the BASF Kids’ Lab: Create a Chromatography Butterfly activity. In this playful experiment, families blend art and chemistry to separate pigments and create vibrant butterfly wings, learning how chromatography helps scientists understand materials in laboratories and everyday life.

With art, science and playful performances happening throughout the Museum each day, March Break at ROM offers curious minds of all ages a chance to explore wildlife, creativity and discovery together.
