About

Experience the height of spring migration at Long Point on the shores of Lake Erie, one of North America’s most celebrated avian corridors. Led by distinguished Ontario naturalists Mark Peck and Emily Rondel, co-authors of the celebrated re-release of the ROM field guide Birds of Ontario, this guided excursion offers exceptional access to the rare Carolinian forest and its remarkable birdlife. Participants may encounter the luminous Prothonotary Warbler, the elusive Louisiana Waterthrush, the brilliant Scarlet Tanager, the richly patterned Rose-breasted Grosbeak, or the vivid Indigo Bunting, while gaining valuable field identification skills and insights from two of Ontario’s leading ornithologists.

Our day itinerary includes visits to Birds Canada National Headquarters, the Long Point Bird Observatory Old Cut Research Station, and the scenic Backus Woods Trail.

We’ll enjoy lunch at the acclaimed Marshview Patio, offering a relaxed and scenic setting to recharge before continuing the afternoon’s explorations. This distinctive itinerary combines peak migration, expert interpretation, and exceptional locations — an outstanding opportunity for birders seeking both inspiration and insight during the most dynamic birding season of the year.
