ALWAYS MAKING HISTORY THAT WORKS

Discover the beauty and creativity of geometric design through remarkable works of art from the Aga Khan Museum and ROM (Royal Ontario Museum). Students investigate how artists and makers across cultures have used lines, shapes, symmetry, and repetition to create intricate patterns in architecture, textiles, ceramics, and other works of art.

Through close observation and interactive discussion, students uncover the mathematical ideas behind geometric design before creating their own original geometric pattern inspired by objects and belongings from both museum collections.
