About
Discover two remarkable communities whose histories are separated by nearly 175 years, yet united by shared values of peace, faith, and community.
Our day begins at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, one of Canada's most impressive places of worship. Built according to ancient Hindu scriptures from 24,000 pieces of hand-carved stone and marble, the temple is a stunning example of craftsmanship and devotion. We’ll tour the temple, attend a brief service, and have time to visit the museum, grounds, and gift shop. A delicious vegetarian lunch at Gwalia Restaurant.
In the afternoon, we travel to Sharon to visit the Sharon Temple, built in 1825 by the Children of Peace, a Quaker sect dedicated to peace, equality, and social justice. Described by early visitors as a building designed to inspire astonishment, the temple remains one of Ontario’s most distinctive historic landmarks. Learn about this fascinating community while visiting the temple, museum, and beautifully preserved grounds.
Join ROMBus for a unique opportunity to experience two extraordinary architectural landmarks and the inspiring stories of the people who built them.
Highlights
Both extraordinary landmarks are shaped by the beliefs and values of the communities that built them.
