About

Nestled along Africa’s Atlantic coastline, just north of South Africa, sits Namibia. A culturally diverse country with a stunning and unique geography, Namibia is home to deserts, savannas, mountains, plateaus, and more. With some of the finest wilderness safari opportunities, and desert sand dunes that stretch right to the Atlantic Ocean’s shores, this beautiful country offers one of most extraordinary travel experiences in the Southern African region.

Our tour begins in Namibia’s capital city of Windhoek, with its strong historic German influence. We will learn about the diverse cultures represented in Namibia and experience history, architecture, food, and culture in the nation’s capital.

From there, the breathtaking scenery, flora, and fauna of Namibia unfolds before us as we venture into the geographic regions of the country. As we traverse this unique landscape, we’ll experience a constant change of perspectives and panoramas. Starting in the southern part of the Namib Desert, with its massive Sossusvlei dunes, we’ll continue on to visit canyons, coastal towns, and the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. We’ll drive through the rugged and breathtaking mountainous region of Damaraland towards the silvery white sands of the Etosha Pan and see the astonishing ancient rock art at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Twyfelfontein, where boulders are dotted with thousands of paintings and engravings.

What is a trip to Southern Africa without a wilderness safari? We’ll experience one of the finest, with opportunities to see four members of the “Big Five” – lions, leopards, elephants and rhinoceros (both black and white). Towards the coast, we’ll also encounter marine life and seabirds along the Atlantic Ocean, as well as other wildlife in our travels, including giraffe, oryx, springbok. and cheetahs.

Botswana, Namibia’s neighbour to the east, is another beautiful landscape offering unique and incomparable experiences. Consider an optional trip extension into the wilds of Botswana's lush waterways with a not-to-be-missed tour of the world’s largest river delta. This optional itinerary addition will highlight the natural beauty of Botswana, including the lagoons, forests, and savannahs of the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage site that offers some of the very best wildlife viewing in the world.

As with all ROMTravel trips, there will be opportunities to try the local cuisine, enjoy unique and luxurious accommodations, meet like-minded travellers, and take part in specially curated experiences.
