About

Canada has a rich editorial cartoon history, with many regional and national newspapers such as the Toronto Star producing a wealth of works that have dated from before Confederation to present day.

Gain a new perspective on Canadian heritage as the ROM showcases our collection of original editorial cartoon drawings, some of which have never been on display before. This exhibition will include work from noted Canadian cartoonists John Wilson Bengough and Sam Hunter.

Original editorial cartoons reflect the social and political climate of the time and place in which they were published. The content of this exhibit will shed light on some of the issues that shaped – and still shape – Canadian culture.
