Take a candid look at where the story began for ROM’s Blue Whale, the star of our blockbuster exhibition Out of the Depths: the Blue Whale Story. This project follows our blue whale’s story – a story of loss and discovery – and ROM’s efforts to recover, transport, study, and preserve the whale for our original 2017 exhibition. Photographs from the recovery, as well as interviews with curators, researchers, and technicians paint a colourful picture of the enormous amount of collaboration, research, and sheer muscle it took to bring Blue from a Newfoundland shore to our exhibition hall.
