About

Join us for a tour of the ROM-original exhibition Shokkan: Material Encounters in Japanese Art. This immersive experience explores shokkan, the uniquely Japanese understanding of touch as a blend of sensation, memory, language, and emotion. From the textures artists work with to the sounds, sights, and stories that surround each object, discover how materials communicate meaning and shape the way Japanese art is created, experienced, and remembered. Come curious, your senses are part of the journey.
