About
Key areas of the Humber neighbourhood take centre stage in this engaging day trip. The former Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital is first on our itinerary. Originally the Mimico Asylum (founded in 1890 and closed in 1979) our exclusive behind-the-scenes tour reveals the story of a site brought back to life. Now part of Humber College, this remarkable site has since served as a filming location for popular productions like The Handmaid’s Tale, Police Academy (1, 3, and 4), and Strange Brew.
Leaving the site behind, and after a delicious lunch at the elegant Lume Kitchen and Lounge, we head outdoors for a guided nature walk at the Humber Arboretum. Led by an experienced educator from the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre, we’ll explore the area’s ecology and get to know the birds that call this conservation space home.
