About

Join Indigenous Learning and Programs for an activation exploring the treaties connected to the land on which ROM stands. Learn about what treaties are, why they are important, and how they continue to shape relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples.

This activation invites visitors to explore the significance of treaties as agreements rooted in relationships, responsibilities, and mutual respect. Participants will consider ways to honour treaties in their everyday lives and reflect on their own roles in building respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples.

Learn the meaning and histories behind various wampum belts, connect with belongings from the teaching collection, participate in hands-on activities, access resources, and connect with the Indigenous Learning and Programs team.

As you participate, consider: How do I uphold the treaties of the land where I live, work, and gather? What responsibilities do treaty relationships invite me to consider today?
