About

Forget the sensational summer shark flicks. Some real-life shark and stingray species have evolved to thrive far from the ocean’s salty waters. While most of their kind remain bound to the ocean, few have broken the mold and adapted to life in freshwater rivers and lakes.

Join ROM Associate Curator of Fishes, Dr. Nathan Lujan, as he shares stories from the field. Learn about exceptional species that have made the leap to freshwater and what their journeys can teach us about evolution, ecology, and the diversity of life.
