About
Join us on a ROMWalk Plus through Toronto’s 4th largest cemetery, a beautiful and tranquil place to visit, an opportunity enjoyed by many people and very often deer.
It is the final resting place of people who lived and worked in Etobicoke and the surrounding areas, including prominent sports figures, politicians, reporters, war heroes, and the doctor who delivered the Dionne quintuplets. Famous names include Conn Smythe, Harold Ballard, Gordon Sinclair, and Sir Henry Pellatt amongst many others.
Interesting Fact: The cemetery was originally founded by local residents in 1892 as Humbervale Cemetery. It was managed by a board of directors who sold it to a prominent property developer wanting to convert it to a residential property. The original owners successfully retained ownership after the case ended up in the Supreme Court and sold it to Park Lawn in 1915 with a promise to maintain it as a cemetery in perpetuity.
