ROM Friday Night Live returns October 2nd for its 8th Season

(Toronto: September 24, 2015) -- Friday Night Live (FNL), presented by Ford of Canada, returns to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) on October 2nd, 2015 for nine weeks of Toronto’s favourite party. The 8th season of FNL runs every Friday from 7:00 pm to 11:30 pm until November 27. This season, guests will enjoy an enhanced experience with 11 new food vendors including: My Crème Caramel, Rachel's Gourmet Gone Wild, Born 2 Eat, EDO, Dishum Dishum, Abokichi, Mustache Burger, The Tamale Girl, feasTO (Winners of Food Network’s Food Truck Face-off), Ice Volcano Ice Cream, and Diner’s Corner. Returning vendors are FNL hits: Fidel Gastro’s (as seen on the Travel + Escape Network), Mnandi Pies, Me.n.u, Curbside Bliss, Hot Bunzz, and Gushi Foods.

ElectriCITY Events is back to set the scene with the sounds of the city’s best DJs every Friday.

New this season, ROM Members enjoy access to a #FNLROM Member Concierge, exclusive member contests and prizes, a premium bar, and the opportunity to meet performers, artists, and curators.

FNL Season 8 includes:

October 2: nuitROM
Offering a sneak peek at the ROM’s “10 for 10th” immersive Nuit Blanche installation, the launch of FNL celebrates the wonders of art and technology, with performances by Zoo Legacy, George Thoms, and Long Range Hustle. Meet artist Annu Palakunnathu Matthew of The Virtual Immigrant and face off against friends through ROM inspired video games with #ROMGameJam. *10 for 10th - Memory Lane is curated by Che Kothari and produced in partnership with the City of Toronto.

October 9: Thanks Canada
Celebrate the Fall Season in a uniquely Canadian way with eclectic musical performances by Buck Twenty and Eric Ethridge. Meet our very own Canadian rock stars (the many dinosaur discoveries from across the country) or snap a picture at the cottage life selfie station.

October 16: Dig it!
Archaeology and palaeontology get the FNL treatment with Dig It! Get creative with the Selfie-Central station, where you can dress up as popular characters, complete with replica artifacts. A fusion of unique sounds come from musical performances by Oldies 990, Cairo, and Mirian Kay to round out the evening.

October 23: C’est Fashion
Francophone culture meets the glamour of FNL fashionistas with electrifying performances from Melanie Brûlée, Guillaume Viau, Motel Raphael, and Eric the Tutor. Guests can also discover the Champlain fashion of yesterday and today, and visit the ROM pop-up barbershop.

October 30: Day of the Dead
Celebrate the biggest and spookiest party of the season with Zombie Tours, temporary Day of the Dead tattoos, and face painting by the Mabel Moon Team. The vibrant ¡Viva México! Clothing and Culture exhibition presented by Mexican Tourism Board will be complemented by appearances from paper artist Sergio Hernandez and weaver Arturo Estrada Hernández. Mexican folklore and culture will be brought to life with performances from Los Poestas, and Mexico Amigo.

November 6: Tribute  
ROM Educator George Hewson engages guests about military history and the Glorious Dead. House jazz by the University of Toronto Jazz Music Program, along with musical performances by Christian Jeffries and DJ Camotion.

November 13: Superstition
Explore the ‘un-natural’ world in an evening of mystique and intrigue. Guests can take part in a quirky Superstitious Selfie Station and catch a glimpse of Friday the 13th-themed films. Meet a ROM expert who isn’t afraid to break the rules with “The good, the bad and the lucky” and indulge in the tunes of Francesco Yates and the Honeyrunners.

November 20: Light
Begin holiday celebrations at FNL with light traditions from around the world! Guests will enjoy an exclusive preview of this year’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. Special musical performances by Countermeasure, Common Deer, and Repartee.

November 27: Volcanic Bash
The explosive season finale features an ancient city frozen in time. For one night only, Pompeii: In the Shadow of the Volcano is included with FNL admission! Roman re-enactors, toga tying, and Roman trivia are amongst the exciting activities for the evening. Musical guests include: The Damn Truth, Holy Roller, and Union Duke.
