The ROM and Citizenship and Immigration Canada hosted a citizenship ceremony during Citizenship Week on Monday, October 15, 2012, in the Samuel Hall/Currelly Gallery followed by a reception in Bronfman Hall. For the event, which was the first held at the ROM since the year 2000, the ROM and Citizenship and Immigration Canada delivered citizenship for 60 new Canadians. The ceremony was also an opportunity for existing Canadians, including ROM members, staff, and volunteers to reaffirm their Citizenship. One of the highlights of Dr. Mark Engstrom’s welcome remarks at Monday morning’s event was the announcement of an exclusive new ROM membership category, created in partnership with the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC), for new Canadian citizens. The New Canadian Membership offers a selection of admission and member ticketing benefits, as well as discounted pricing on ROM retail, lectures, programming and more. It was inspirational to experience how Dr. Engstrom, alongside other ROM staff, volunteers and members reaffirmed their citizenship during the ceremony. Also of inspiration with their kind words and anecdotes were presiding Judge Raminder Gill; Maureen Lalla-Khan, Director CIC, GTA East; and Warrant Officer Valmon Comeau, RCAF.

After the ceremony and reception, guests had the opportunity to take in docent tours of the Museum.
