The World of Vikings: History on Film
Examine the challenges and successes involved in retelling stories from the ancient world for television audiences with the cast and crew of Vikings. Renowned researcher and television contributor Neil Price will lead a conversation on historical entertainment with those who are tasked with portraying real and fictional characters on a daily basis.
Speaker: Neil Price
Neil Price is Distinguished Professor of Archaeology at the University of Uppsala, Sweden. A leading specialist in the Viking Age and the pre-Christian religions of the North, with additional interests in the historical archaeology of the Asia-Pacific region, his researches have taken him to more than 40 countries. He was the lead Historical Consultant for the History documentary series Real Vikings, working with members of the Vikings cast. For the next ten years, Neil is directing one of Sweden's largest archaeological research projects, The Viking Phenomenon, leading an international team to explore the origins of this critical period in world history.
