ROM for the Holidays


For twelve exciting days, the Museum is transformed into a fun-filled winter wonderland. Experience three amazing special exhibitions, Spiders: Fear and Fascination*, Zuul: Life of an Armoured Dinosaur*, presenting sponsor Sinking Ship Entertainment and Wildlife Photographer of the Year*, that will transport you to three very different worlds.
*not included with general Museum admission.

Make, discover and explore at ROM for the Holidays with daily activities and live performances from 10:30 am until 30 minutes before closing*, all included with admission.

Daily activities include:

A Wild Time! - Get up close and personal with wildlife as you discover incredible animal facts with Hands On Exotics! Hands On Exotics is a Toronto-based animal shelter specializing in the rescue, care, and conservation of exotic animals. 
Meet and greet starting at 10:30 am until 30 minutes prior to the Museum closing, special presentations at 1:00 & 3:00 pm

Dance Dance Evolution - From the waggle dance of the honey bee to the elaborate display of the peacock spider, learn the wildest moves nature has to offer! Join in a lesson led by SaMel Tanz, a contemporary dance company that creates vibrant stories through innovative dance. 12:00, 2:00, and 4:00 pm

Cretaceous Community Art - Zuul, the incredible armoured dinosaur, was found in the dry, dusty badlands of Montana, but 75 million years ago that place was a warm wetland, teeming with plants and animals. Express yourself on the giant mural by adding your creation to bring Zuul's home to life!

Animal Face Painting -  Choose your colours and creature, and be transformed by our amazing artists! 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Sensational Spiders -  Get wrapped up in all things spiders and create a keepsake.

Remarkable Reefs - Did you know coral reefs are animals? Wade into the wonderful world of coral reefs and discover how ocean life depend on these curious creatures.

Ancient Armour - Learn about armour and weaponry from around the world, made by people or found in nature. 

ROM Quest: Webbing and Weaving - Explore the influence that spiders and other arachnids through different cultural lenses on this scavenger hunt.

ROM Quest: Friends of Textiles - Journey through the Gallery of Africa, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific, the Gallery of the Middle East, and the South Asian Gallery to explore different textiles and materials used to make striking fashion and costumes. Presented by Friends of ROM Textiles & Costume.

Snowglobe Selfie - Snap a picture of you and your loved one in the ROM Snowglobe, custom designed by the award-winning ice designers and carvers of Iceculture. (outdoors, weather-dependent)
