The war against ISIS in Iraq and the civil war in Syria has had a terrible impact on the cultural heritage of both countries, bringing most archaeological excavations in this region to a halt. Find out how archaeologists are handling the challenges posed by warfare, and some unexpected outcomes that have emerged from these catastrophic situations.
