Partners in Protection: Ontario Nature

Ontario Nature logo

The ROM is celebrating Earth Month in April with all things nature through our Partners in Protection: In The Studio program. From wildlife conservation to protected spaces, you can meet local groups who are leaders in conservation during each weekend in April; as well as learn about research and collections at the ROM! Join us, and be inspired by each organization's mission to protect the natural world.

Take action on Earth Day! On Saturday April 21, and Sunday April 22, 2018, Ontario Nature will be in the Earth Rangers Studio located within the Life in Crisis: Schad Gallery of Biodiversity in celebration of Earth Day. Join Ontario Nature staff and volunteers to learn about the Protected Places campaign and get a chance to sign the declaration to help protect the places you love! There will be activities for kids including wild species colouring and quizzes.

Ontario Nature is a charitable conservation organization that protects wild species and wild spaces through conservation, education and public engagement. Representing more than 30,000 members and supporters, and more than 150 member groups across the province, Ontario Nature has been a champion for nature since 1931. We have a long history of success in securing the protection of millions of hectares of wild places throughout Ontario. In fact, we own and manage 25 nature reserves, protecting examples of some of Ontario’s most vulnerable habitats.

Ontario Nature is committed to ensuring that Ontario and Canada achieve the United Nations target to protect at least 17 percent of our lands and inland waters by 2020.  To this end, we are working to build strong alliances with community groups, Indigenous partners, industry leaders, and conservation organizations across the country. To demonstrate widespread public support for protected areas and for meeting the UN target, Ontario Nature and partners are asking members of the public to endorse the Protected Places Declaration.

*Partners in Protection: In The Studio is a regular event taking place within the Earth Rangers Studio in the Life in Crisis: Schad Gallery of Biodiversity (Level 2). It is an opportunity for organizations interested in biodiversity-, conservation- and sustainability-related issues to connect with visitors at the Royal Ontario Museum through informal presentations, crafts, games, stories, hands-on specimens and/or other activities, suitable for the whole family. Access is free with general admission.
