MUSEUM (poem)

MUSEUM (poem)

  • 2010 - now

I believe museums should be about affectivity -- that one should be able to simultaneously 'lose' oneself and connect to something larger. Here's a poem I wrote on the subject that I am pleased to share in honour of ROM ReCollects:

Matinée monuments

stories in surround

soliloquies of time

Solemn bronze

singing its victory

Awakening marble

longing for touch

A reunion:

love and loss

fable turned fact

Mixing media

these earthly treasures

of blue, green and gold

reviving their rhythm

From the art of life

to the brushstroke of death

our human fabric

captured in mosaic

the pattern perfect

I find my dusky muse

shiver inward, smiling

emerge into daylight

changed and new.
