The exhibition opens in November with good attendance at the public programs. Early in the next year, protests begin and escalate. ROM changes the process by which exhibitions are proposed and approved.

Comment by Adisa S. Oji

I am grateful for Dan, Julie and Dominque and the efforts being made by the ROM to become a fair and more inclusive museum. And while I do not believe this or any other Euro-centric institution with return artifacts stolen from peoples they conquered, at least there is hope that the artifacts may be given new voice and a liberating context for the descendants of thieves and those stolen from. All the best with Of Africa and I will be watching.
