About

The ROM has made exciting additions to the Paul Kane section of the Gallery of Canada: First Peoples. They will include a display of artworks related to the forthcoming ROM publication: Wanderings of an Artist Among the Indian of North America, and will feature Kane’s painting Fishing by Torch Light. In addition to the fact that these paintings have rarely been displayed, Fishing by Torch Light provides historical context to the contemporary issue surrounding spearfishing amongst the Ojibwe of northern Wisconsin. Visitors to the Gallery of Canada: First Peoples will enjoy the ROM’s exclusive collection of Kane’s work, and the relevance it has to the present day.
