Upon completion of her M.A., Patty Proctor came to work at the ROM on contract to make rubbings of Chinese Shang Dynasty oracle bones. After a year spent studying Chinese art at the University of London, she joined the Museum's permanent staff in 1971 and assumed responsibility for the Chinese ceramics collection. During her years at the Museum, she has spent large amounts of her time studying and cataloguing the ROM's Chinese ceramics. She has also curated exhibitions large and small, been very active in gallery work, participated in a variety of public programs and given many public lectures.
