As I walk through the Museum each day, I am reminded of the magical feeling museums give us — I see visitors of all ages enjoying our collections, exhibitions, and special events like our ROM Speaks lectures and Friday Night Live, which bring the wonders of the Museum to new audiences.

During the holiday season, I know many of you may have a little more time available, which is a great thing because there’s never been a more exciting time to join us at the Museum!

We’ve been home to a great number of incredible events over the last year. My own highlights include fascinating exhibitions like Pompeii: In the Shadow of the Volcano, ¡Viva Mexico!, Douglas Coupland’s everywhere is anywhere is anything is everything, the awardwinning Fashion Follows Form: Designs for Sitting exhibition, as well as research-focused outreach projects like the Blue Whale project that saw us send a team (myself included) to help recover the carcass of a Blue Whale for future installation at the Museum.

I know the exceptional experiences and programs we offer at the ROM introduce visitors to the joy of lifelong learning and I’m particularly proud of this role the ROM plays in inspiring the next generations of scientists, world leaders, and curiosity seekers.

I hope you'll visit in person at the Museum soon—a world of wonder and discovery awaits you.

Mark Engstrom,
Interim Director and CEO
