This year, the ROM's Textiles Department will be 75 years old. Please join us for a presentation by John Vollmer that will focus on the history of the first 50 years with an emphasis on the three founders: Dorothy Kay MacDonald (Burnham), Katherine Beatrice Maw (Betty Brett) and Harold B. Burnham. Under their stewardship the collections increased dramatically. More importantly, they defined the criteria for the Museum’s view of textiles within the larger cultural and scientific disciplines of its curatorial departments.
Presented by Friends of Textiles & Costume (FTC).
