A special Appreciation Event for donors to Friends of East Asia, Friends of Textiles & Costume, Friends of South Asia, and Adopt-a-Journal.
Silk worms have been cultivated for thousands of years in China for the silken threads they produce, but it is the creativity of craftspeople who have turned them into luxurious textiles.
As a token of our appreciation for your financial support, please join us for presentations by:
Sarah Fee, ROM Curator, will relate the stories behind the dyes and other materials used to create the famous colours used in China's Imperial Court.
Jianfei He will explore the different styles of embroidery from the Pearl River delta in China since 1915, showing their foreign influences in both styles which were copied and the taste of international buyers.
This event is presented by Friends of East Asia, Friends of Textiles & Costume and Friends of South Asia.
