March Break at the Museum combines learning and fun for kids

Come to the ROM this March Break and let us be your Passport to the World!

Welcome, travellers, as the ROM takes you on a voyage around the world. From archaeology to zoology and more, learn about the ROM research being done around the globe. Explore hands-on artifacts and specimens from behind the scenes and engage with ROM staff like never before.

ROM Passport – Customs Desk, Level 1 Chen Court

Collect your passport and start your journey around the world, then be sure to bring your completed passport back to collect a memento of your trip!


Level B1 – Eaton Theatre


Our friends at Earth Rangers are back with their popular Bring Back the Wild™ theatre show, featuring fabulous animal ambassadors! Kids will love meeting Timber the Pine Marten, Koho the Bald Eagle, and more!

Shows at 1 pm, 3 pm and 5 pm daily.* **
*Doors open 15 minutes prior to showtime. Limited entry, first come first served. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Archaeological Dig
Dig into the past like a real archaeologist and discover buried treasures. Don’t forget to record your finds!

Build a Maya Pyramid
Help us build a LEGO Maya pyramid for the 50th anniversary of the discovery of Altun Ha by ROM archaeologists!

Curatorial Corner
Get a sneak peek at objects usually hidden in our vaults and talk to ROM curatorial staff about the research they are doing.

Joey and Toby Tanenbaum Gallery of China – Chinese Calendar
According to the Chinese calendar, 2013 is the Year of the Snake. Learn the traditions of the Chinese calendar and search the Asian galleries to find out which animal you were born under. Then make your own snake mobile!

Prince Takamodo Gallery of Japan - Samurai Sessions
Come see demonstrations of samurai skills and learn about the weapons, armour, ideas, and art they prized. Guided tours of the ROM’s East Asian galleries will be included.

Sigmund Samuel Gallery of Canada - Did You Know? Gallery Hunt
Test your powers of observation - find out who had their portraits painted. Can you figure out what each object is and its function? Remember, appearances can be deceiving.

Mediaeval World
Step through time to the Mediaeval World and experience daily life in the Middle Ages.
Demonstrations (Monday to Friday):

Bead It!
Make your own beaded jewelry and learn how the First Peoples created their magnificent beadwork.

Relax in our Dino Dan Lounge with some of our favourite episodes and quiet activities.

Biodiversity Field Camp
ROM Biodiversity and Parks Canada present: In situ - experience life "in the field" with ROM curators and research biologists at our field camp, and have your photo taken against backdrops of field sites from across the world.

Prehistoric World
Create your own Ultimate Dinosaur, assemble a dinosaur puzzle, trace a trilobite and more!

Earth and Space
Prepare to be star struck as you discover the fascinating phenomena from the sky above. Stand on the moon and touch a space rock. Then look closer to home as you learn about the world beneath your feet with our rock quiz!

Level 2 – Earth Rangers Studio

Celebrate Chinese Year of the Snake with Sciensational Sssnakes!!
Think snakes are slimy? You might be surprised to learn they aren't slimy at all!
Discover this and so much more as you explore the world of our slithery neighbours in this fun, interactive show.

Level 2 – Louis and James Temerty Gallery of Dinosaurs

SONY Dino Duds Photo Station
Dress up as a dinosaur in our Palaeo World. The SONY photo station offers visitors the chance to take away mementos of themselves as a dinosaur. Presented in cooperation with Sony of Canada Ltd.

Feel a Fossil
Touch a giant dinosaur bone from our vaults!

Level 2 – Reed Gallery of the Age of Mammals

Ice Age Mammals Touch Table
Compare animals of the Ice Age to animals living today at this hands-on station.


Starlab Planetarium
Explore space and the constellations right inside the Museum!

Could you be a ROM conservator and take care of the collections? Test your skills of perception and steadiness of hand as you puzzle together cracked pots using the qualities of a good conservator!

Interact with Earth Rangers staff and meet some Animal Ambassadors at our special Earth Rangers meet-and-greet station.

Create your own colourful Textile Treasure to take home – a felted bead, a button necklace, or patterned fabric.*
