ROM Opens Museum for its Annual Game Jam

ROM hosts second annual Game Jam from August 8-10, 2014

Video game developers will create games using the ROM’s Content and Collections

Selection of completed games will be play-tested at the ROM this fall

WHAT: The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), in partnership with the University of Toronto, the University of Toronto Game Design & Development Club, and Gamercamp, presents the second annual ROM Game Jam from Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 10, 2014.

This year’s event, themed Evolution Revolution, will challenge game developers to use three of the ROM’s Centres of Discovery: Earth & Space, Fossils & Evolution, and Biodiversity to develop new, interactive video games.  “Jammers” will create games that animate the Museum’s collections, exhibitions and galleries.  Completed games, at the ROM’s discretion, will be play-tested at various Museum events this fall.

ROM Game Jam features 60 pre-registered participants, who will join the three-day Game Jam and Gamercamp (Gamercamp runs on Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10, 2014). Registration to ROM Game Jam is now closed. Visit the Game Jam Blog for more information.
