Artists create collaborative art in the midst of ROM galleries, live music, and entertainment

TORONTO, Ontario – June 9, 2016: Presented in partnership with Northern Ink Xposure (NIX), tattoo artists from around the world bring their remarkable skills to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). Experience the fusion of fine art and tattoos with the creation of four large-scale painted canvases by remarkable artists, in a club-style atmosphere with top-tier performers, bars, lounges, and food from local street vendors. Exclusive after-hours access to the exhibition Tattoos: Ritual. Identity. Obsession. Art is included.

Entertainment

On the back of their explosive debut EP, Southern Ontario based Say Yes has toured relentlessly with the likes of The Sheepdogs, Danko Jones and Head of the Herd. Their recently released debut album Real Life Trash Mag via Dine Alone Records was co-produced with Billy Talent guitarist Ian D’Sa and Eric Ratz (Billy Talent, Big Wreck). Comprised of drummer Jordan Hastings, bassist Michael Zane and guitarist/vocalist Adam Michael, the band features alumni of acts Alexisonfire, Saint Alvia and Jersey. Presented in Partnership with Indie 88.

Zombie Boy is a Canadian DJ, musician, model, and performer. Tattooed as a living skeleton, he has been featured in major campaigns for Thierry Mugler, and in Lady Gaga’s Born This Way video. This dynamic performer is currently working on his debut album.

New-York Based Raquel Reed performs her spicy take on classic Burlesque. Reed brings her internationally acclaimed performance to Toronto to celebrate the exhibition Tattoos: Ritual. Identity. Obsession. Art.

 

The Art Fusion Experiment: Live Artists

Paul Booth is co–founder of the Art Fusion Experiment and is one of the most in-demand tattooists in the world today. He is the owner of Last Rites Art Gallery in NYC, and a prolific painter in his own right.

Filip Leu is co-founder of the Art Fusion Experiment and is based in Ste Croix, Switzerland. Coming from a family of artists, his work as a tattooist and a painter are known around the world as one of the best.

Titine Leu is a well-known artist whose work is currently on display in Tattoos: Ritual. Identity. Obsession. Art at the ROM, as well as several galleries in Europe. She is best known for her vintage tattoo imagery portrait paintings.

Kurt Wiscombe is owner of Tattoos for the Individual in Winnipeg, and is also the co-founder of the Skull and Bones Gallery, where he functions as painter and curator. He has worked collaboratively with Filip and Paul on both tattoos and paintings, as well as travelled the world extensively for work and inspiration.
