Visitor Policies
General:
Visitors are asked to refrain from shouting, running and rowdy behaviour. For the enjoyment of other visitors, cellular telephone use is not permitted in the galleries or the Signy and Cléophée Eaton Theatre.
Exhibitions & Galleries:
We welcome your interest in the artifacts on display but ask for your cooperation in not touching the objects, as oils from your hands can permanently damage them. Objects that can be touched are indicated by a Please Touch sign. Families with young children may wish to visit the hands-on galleries located on Level 2.
Sketching:
Visitors are welcome to sketch in the galleries using pen and pencils only, with the exception of some temporary exhibitions. Easels are not permitted, freehand only.
Baggage:
The Museum requires visitors to check all backpacks, bags, and packages, larger than 38 cm x 28cm x 15cm (15" x 11" x 6"). The coat check will not accept laptop computers or luggage of any size. All bags are subject to search and inspection. Visitor bags are checked free of charge, and coats for $2 each. To avoid a lengthy wait in the coat check line, visitors should limit the items they bring to the Museum.
Strollers:
A limited number of strollers may be rented for a $2.00 fee. Strollers are not permitted in the CIBC Discovery Room. Designated stroller parking areas are available on Level 2.
Photography:
Personal, non-commercial photography is permitted and we encourage you to collect memories of your visit. Camera stands or supports (such as, but not limited to tripods or monopods) and lighting attachments are prohibited. Photography may be prohibited in selected exhibitions.
