COMMUNITY ACCESS NETWORK (ROMCAN)
The Royal Ontario Museum's Community Access Network (ROMCAN) was created in 2008 to make the Museum accessible to everyone by providing free Museum tickets or access directly to communities and individuals who may not otherwise visit the Museum.
ROMCAN is an important part of the ROM mandate to make its collections "known to the public." Programs like ROMCAN eliminate barriers that might otherwise stand between the community and the Museum. Unlocking the ROM's power to engage, share and inspire will extend the Museum's reach and service to a greater diversity of visitors.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Every year, thousands of general admission tickets to the ROM are distributed through participating community and charitable organizations to communities in need. The communities that receive ROMCAN tickets include families on fixed incomes, children with life-threatening medical conditions, at-risk youth, abused women, new comers to Canada and Canadians with physical and mental disabilities. To learn more about these participating organizations read our Community Partner Profiles.
HOW CAN I GET ADVANTANGE OF THIS PROGRAM?
To take advantage of this part of the program interested parties must be a client of one of the member organizations under the ROMCAN program. If you are not a client of these organizations, contact us for more information at accessibility@rom.on.ca
