Mackintosh Vase

Reproduced from a design by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the Willow Tearoom, Glasgow, 1903. This vase is made of wood inlaid with mother-of-pearl from an original Mackintosh drawing. On loan from the Howarth Collection. Royal Ontario Museum.

Mackintosh was one of the great pioneers of the Modern movement. He was an architect, furniture and interior designer, and water colourist, whose work was light and original, bold yet free of excessive ornamentation. The clean lines of the Mackintosh design are reflected in his major architectural project, The Glasgow School of Art, and the numerous tearooms and household interiors he designed at the turn of this century.

NOTE: Protect painted wood parts of the flower holder from water. As with any painted surface, damage will result from excess water contact.
