Scarab Jewellery
Gold-plated, gold-plated with enamel, or silver-plated from a green-glazed steatite scarab, set in a gold casing which forms a bezel for a ring. The inscription suggests that it belonged to a woman.
Egyptian, Royal Ontario Museum, 910.47.67
The scarab was the most popular amulet in ancient Egypt. It was a symbol of life and resurrection for the dead, and was thought to provide protection and good luck for the living.
