Leaf-toed Gecko Pin
Pin adapted from a Mexican leaf-toed gecko, of which the research was partly funded by ROM Reproductions, Royal Ontario Museum.
Leaf-toed geckos are night-active lizards that usually live on boulders and rock faces. They occur in the Americas. Mexico has the greatest number of species, including on islands in the Gulf of California. ROM researchers have been investigating their genetic relationships as a means of hypothesizing the geological history of Mexico. This research has resulted in the discovery of a new species, as represented by this modeled lizard.
