What is SCVNGR
SCVNGR is a fun game you and your family can play on your mobile device on your next visit to the ROM. Search for hidden treasures and play along with other families to earn points, unlock badges and rewards towards real prizes. Learn more at the SCVNGR website.
How to Play
The ROM is not fully WiFi enabled so you will need a data plan to play SCVNGR.
Download the free SCVNGR app from the iTunes Store or Android Market before your visit to the ROM. SCVNGR is location based so you must be at the Royal Ontario Museum to play and your location services must be turned on.
When you are ready to play, open the app and select a ROM Trek. Follow the instructions until you have completed the hunt.
Once you are complete, use the back button to try another trek and continue the fun.
If you have earned a prize, head to the SCVNGR Head Quarters at the Membership desk to claim your prize.
The ROM's Iconic Objects
May 18th is International Museum Day and the ROM is celebrating with a month long SCVNGR trek focusing on the Iconic Objects in the museum. There are paintings, totem poles, Rhinos, Dinos, and suits of armour! Can you find them all? Complete the 15 challenges in the trek to build your points total and move closer to the ROM Points leader reward at 100 points!!
More Ways to Play
There are lots of other fun SCVNGR challenges to do at the ROM, test your ROM knowledge and earn points that lead to real rewards. Open the SCVNGR app, select 'Places' from the main menu and look for the Royal Ontario Museum's profile, check-in with friends, say something about your visit, tell us about your favourite gallery or object, or even snap a picture.
There will be a special trek each month with a special prize so make sure you keep coming back for your chance to win!
ROM Points Leader
Having fun with SCVNGR at the ROM will lead to real rewards! Collect 30 points between now and November 30, 2012 to claim your prize! Once you reach 30 points, head to SCVNGR Head Quaters at the membership desk and show them the reward screen on your smartphone to claim your prize.
