Q. Can I book a school visit over the phone?
A. No. Applications can be submitted to the Royal Ontario Museum online, by fax or by mail. Learn more about booking your visit.
Q. I already sent in my application. How do I make a reservation?
A. You will receive a reservation letter by fax, e-mail or mail. Your reservation will be processed within 2 to 4 weeks of submitting your application.
After you receive your reservation, review it carefully to ensure that the information is correct. To confirm your reservation sign and return it to the Museum. If you have made an online application, please use the electronic confirmation system.
Cancellations must be received in writing 10 business days in advance of your scheduled visit. Failure to confirm your reservation is not considered a cancellation.
Q. Where can I park?
To avoid a parking infraction please use a designated parking zones.
Starting June 1, 2007, school and coach buses may use the lay-by area located on Queen's Park at Bloor St for pick-up and drop-off purposes only. Parked buses will be ticketed as per the City of Toronto's parking by-laws.
Q. What time do your lessons run in the mornings and afternoons?
A. Morning lessons run any time between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm Afternoon lessons run any time between 12:30 pm and 4:30 pm For more information please review a typical day at the Museum

Q. How long are the programs?
A. All programs are 60 to 90 minutes long unless otherwise noted in the program description. Please browse our lessons for more information.
Q. If I have more than one group, can they do different topics?
A. Yes. Please fill in an application for each group and cross reference the applications by adding a note in the comments field indicating that you are bringing another group.
Q. Do I have to pay extra for a self-guided visit if I'm booked for a lesson?
A. No. If you have booked a lesson, a self-guided visit is included in the price.
Q. Where can I find the application form?
A. Once you have selected the lessons you would like to book, click Checkout. You will be guided to an electronic application form you can complete and submit online. For more information please read more about how to book your school visit. Or fax an application located in the School Visits brochure.
Q. What are the closest public transportation stops?
A. The closest subway stop is Museum, on the University Line. St. George is the closest subway stop on the Bloor Line. For more information please see parking and directions.
Q. Why can't I bring my backpack or large bag into the museum galleries?
A. Large bags and backpacks are not permitted in the exhibits or in our labs for security reasons. Many of the objects in the Museum are very fragile, old and irreplaceable.
Q. Can one of my classes have a guided lesson while the other class views the exhibits independently?
A. No. While lessons are in progress, self-guided visitors are not permitted into the exhibits or gallery.
Q. Can memberships be used towards Education programs?
A. Memberships cannot be used to cover programs guided by Museum staff. They can be used for students and/or supervisors visiting the museum for self-guided visits booked through the Education department.
