Students follow the trade routes that connected Medieval Europe to Asia and the Middle East. In this way they discover that not only new products traveled these routes but also religions, technologies, new ideas and even diseases. Students will visit the Wirth Gallery of the Middle East and may include collections from these Chinese galleries: Gallery of Chinese Architecture,  Matthews Family Court of Chinese SculptureJoey and Toby Tanenbaum Gallery of China and the Bishop White Gallery of Chinese Temple Art. In the Samuel European Galleries, they will find evidence of and discuss how these contacts changed Medieval Europe.
