Saturday Morning Club

Paint a masterpiece, build an empire and explore the world—before lunch! Children will enjoy eight Saturdays of fun-filled, educational adventures in the ROM's fascinating galleries. New fall programs will be posted online shortly.

Discover the mysteries of Emperor Qin’s terracotta army, cross mountains with Alexander, march with a Roman legion, study strategy with Thutmosis. From the stone axe to the advent of firearms, explore the people, weapons, tools, armies, and tactics that leaders used to expand their empires and outwit their enemies.

Animal Art (Ages 6-7)

Let the Museum’s galleries inspire you as you see art in nature, and nature in art. Look up close at amazing colours and patterns in nature, and discover how people in the past recreated their favourite animals. Next, it’s time to create your own wild and wonderful works of animal art.

Dino Detectives (Ages 6-7)

What was it like when the dinosaurs ruled the Earth, and where did they all go? Here’s your chance to find out! Put on your detective hats and follow clues in the fossil record. As we examine the evidence, we’ll learn about ancient eco-systems, dino diet, and climate change until we discover where the dinosaurs are today!

Dungeons & Dragons (Ages 11-14)

Let the ROM lend its authenticity to your role playing game experience. Learn about legends, monsters, scrolls, and weapons from the actual cultures and artifacts upon which Dungeons and Dragons-style games are based. Then use your imagination to bring it all to life while playing an ongoing campaign in a ROM inspired D&D world.

Quick Draw (Ages 11-14)

Have sketch pad, will travel! Pack your pencils and roam the Museum in search of new subject for your lightning lead. Armed with pens, markers, pastels and charcoal you’ll sharpen your drawing technique as you take aim at everything from dinosaurs to Roman statues to jungle jaguars and much more!

Fashion yourself a trunk full of hats, costumes and fancy footwear as you take an imaginative journey through our galleries. Learn how different cultures clothed themselves through history. Then, using paint, paper, fabric and more, you’ll create outfits and accessories to suit yourself in this crazy costume caper.

It’s Terracotta Time! Slip and score your way through an exciting clay-venture. Delve into an underground tomb filled with Qin’s unique terracotta warriors. Then discover other treasures of the ancient world as you travel through China, Egypt, and Greece.

Weird Science (Ages 8-10)

From trilobites, glyptodonts, and giant ground sloths to meat-eating plants, flying foxes, and fishing spiders, bizarre creatures have always existed. By examining fossils, skins, skeletons, and live specimens and doing your own creative projects, you’ll learn about evolution’s strangest solutions.
