More Information LEVEL B2 Abacus Extravaganza Science Show March 13-19, 12 pm, 1:30 pm, 3 pm Garfield Weston Exhibition Hall Chris McGowan makes science fun in this interactive 30-minute science show. Book signing in the ROM Museum Store after each show. LEVEL B1 Earth Rangers Bring Back the Wild March 13 -21, 11:30 am, 1 pm, 2 pm Signy and Cléophée Eaton Theatre Wild cats, hawks and lemurs! The Earth Rangers pull out all the stops in this 22-minute live animal show. Limited seating, no late comers. LEVEL 1 Medieval Fair March 13-21 Samuel Hall Currelly Gallery, Level 1Go back in time to the fair grounds of medieval England with strolling musicians, craft and game booths, live falcons, Medieval dancers and noble Knights. Stage Performances, March 15-19 11 am Medieval Dance & Fashion Show 12 pm Falconry Show* 1 pm Medieval Dance & Fashion Show 2 pm Falconry Show* 3 pm Academy of European Medieval Marshal Arts Fencing demonstration * Falcon shows will also be performed March 13, 14, 20 & 21 Meet a Samurai March 13-19 Prince Takamado Gallery of Japan See what a real Samurai wore and what his weapons looked like. Our Samurai can answer all sorts of questions on Japanese history, culture and, of course, the life of a Samurai warrior. Sword cutting demonstrations every hour. Archery & Trebuchet Canada Court Test your aim at the Hart House Archery Range. Gaze in wonder at our full-scale trebuchet and then try our mini trebuchets out for yourself. Bead It! Daphne Cockwell Gallery of Canada: First Peoples Make your own bracelet or ring using beading techniques and special beading looms. How to Thread a Needle Rotunda Make your own jewellery while learning how to sew. Chinese Calendar Matthews Family Court of Chinese Sculpture Go on a scavenger hunt through China and find the animals of the zodiac! If you find them all you will receive a zodiac calendar and find out what animal you were born under. LEVEL 2 Palaeontology Point Bronfman Hall Don’t miss 565 million years old fossils found in Newfoundland of the first real animals! Future palaeontologists can also touch real dinosaur bones, dress up in dino costumes, make 3-D puzzles and crafts of their favourite dinosaurs. The Bat Studio Earth Rangers Studio The Earth Rangers Studio is the Bat Studio all March Break long! Discover bat skeletons and specimens, a bird that echo-locates, a fish that eats bats and learn how to build a bat house. Also learn about White Nose Fungus, a devastating disease that is killing hundreds of thousands of bats in North America. Feast your eyes on a two foot lobster! Life in Crisis: Schad Gallery of Biodiversity ROM Curators break out the Brachiopods, invertebrates also known as lamp shells, for visitors to see. CIBC Discovery Gallery Become a palaeontologist, dig for dinosaur bones, try on Armour or an Egyptian robe, listen to Blackfoot stories in the tipi or write your name in hieroglyphs in this interactive space. Hands-on Biodiversity Gallery This gallery is a hands-on learning centre exploring the vast diversity of life on earth. Visitors can examine and handle specimens such as a bear skull or snake skin, crawl through the fox's den and meet a Madagascar hissing cockroach. Teck Suite of Galleries: Earth Treasures Minerals not normally on display will be brought out for visitors to touch and see up close. LEVEL 3 Live Bats March 13, 14, 20 & 21 The African Lion Safari brings live bats to the ROM! Encounter these special visitors up-close! 11:15am - 11:30am, Bat Basics 11:30am - 11:45am,Live Bat Encounter 12:15pm - 12:30pm, Live Bat Encounter 12:45pm - 1:00pm, Bat Basics 1:00pm- 1:15pm, Live Bat Encounter 1:45pm - 2:00pm, Live Bat Encounter 2:15pm - 2:30pm, Bat Basics 2:30pm - 2:45pm, Live Bat Encounter 3:15pm - 3:30pm, Live Bat Encounter 3:45pm - 4:00pm, Bat Basics What Is It? March 15-19 Eaton Rotunda: Europe Can you figure out what each object is and what is was used for? This guessing game is always a family favourite. Bat Zone Children’s Activity Area Centre Block, Heritage Building Create amazing bat crafts, try on bat costumes and learn the Bat Basics, a short presentation on fundamental bat facts. Legendary Creatures and Mythical Beasts Gallery of Greece Embark on a scavenger hunt through Ancient Greece while you learn about this influencial culture! Galleries of Africa: Egypt Learn how to write your name in Egyptian hieroglyphs and make your own scarab amulet. Safecracking Fakes & Forgeries Can you tell which bill is real and which is counterfeit? Learn the history of paper money in Canada from design to security features.
