Travelling Education Kits



Arts of the Inuit (54lbs)
Students examine artifacts from Inuit culture to learn how these objects were made, and how they reflect traditional life in the North.

Contents: contemporary bone and soapstone carvings, a grass basket, a doll, snow goggles, miniature articles of clothing, resource folder with books, a picture folder, student activity booklets, and teacher's notes. (Jr/Int)

Arts of the Northwest Coast
Students explore the distinctive designs of ceremonial and everyday objects traditionally made by the people of the Northwest Coast.

Contents: reproduction materials inlcuding a mask, fish hook, basket, horn spoon, carved fish club, miniature reproduction of a totem pole; resource folder with books and booklets, student activity cards, and teacher's notes. (Jr/Int)

World Ceramics - A cooperative learning kit
The cave-dwelling people were the first to form clay into pots; now ceramic products zoom into outer space on the Shuttle Orbiter. Students look at cultures from all over the world as they consider the creation, design and function of clay objects.

Contents: 7 activity centres, including reproduced clay objects such as an Egyptian necklace, an Islamic tile, an African pot, a Mexican "Pretty Lady" fetish, clay samples and teacher's notes. (Jr/Int)

World Music
Explore the science of sound, track down musical instruments from around the world, and climb the musical family tree! This diverse School Case allows students the opportunity to create musical instruments out of everyday objects and perform their own compositions. Mozart, look out!

Contents: 7 activity centres; 9 instruments including: an African drum, a Mexican vessel flute and Tibetan cymbals, a board game focusing on stringed instruments, activity cards, and teacher's notes. (Jr/Int)

Cases are billingual and weigh approximately 40 lbs unless otherwise indicated.
