Great Crested Flycatcher
Great Crested Flycatcher - Myiarchus crinitus
Appearance: Robin-sized olive bird with a long rust-coloured tail, broad, flat beak, and a triangular-shaped head. The wings have white stripes on them. Up close, it has a pale yellow belly.
Behaviour: Catches insects in flight. Feeds in canopy. Nests in holes, and will use nestboxes and even old mailboxes. Loud, distinctive call.
Habitats: Forest, especially forest edge and clearings.

Herring Gull
Herring Gull - Larus argentatus
Appearance: Crow-sized white bird with webbed feet, narrow, pointed wings and a hooked beak. Adult is white with grey wings; immature is brown for several years. Up close, the legs are pink, not yellow as in the similar Ring-billed Gull, and a red spot on the lower beak.
Behaviour: Scavenger. Will land on water and pick up food. Bold and aggressive.
Habitats: Freshwater, especially lakes, and urban areas on large lakes.

House Finch
House Finch - Carpodacus mexicanus
Appearance: Sparrow-sized brown bird with short cone-shaped beak. Male has red on head and front, female has brown streaks on front and no red.
Behaviour: Seed eater. Conspicuous, active birds. Male gives a melodic song from prominent perch such as power lines.
Habitats: Urban, including open woodlands, parklands, farmyards. Visits bird feeders.
